Inuyasha is the main hero of the anime tv show ''Inuyasha". Son of a dog-demon father and human mother, Inuyasha is a half-demon who at first wants to use the powerul Shikon Jewel to become a full demon. After falling in love with Kikyo, a priestess who guards the Jewel, he changes his mind and wants to become fully human so he can live with her, but Naraku, a very powerful demon, tricks them both into believing they have been betrayed by each another. After Kikyo is fatally wounded, she uses one of her sacred arrows to permanently seal Inuyasha to a sacred tree. Inuyasha remains suspended to the tree for 50 years until Kagome, Kikyo's reincarnation, removes the arrow and frees him. The Shikon Jewel was hidden inside Kagome, a Japanese schoolgirl living in modern times until a demon dragged her into a well, back to Inuyasha's time of the Feudal Era. After the demon removes the Jewel from girl's body, Kagome accidentally shatters it with an arrow and the numerous resulting jewel shards disperse across the land. Kagome possesses Kikyo's great spiritual powers and can purify tainted shards of the jewel. She can also detect the presence of jewel shards, and joins Inuyasha on his quest to recover them all and destroy Naraku.
